Abstract

The study aimed to identify the future trends of travel agencies in light of the continuous development of information technology and its applications in tourism. The study used the qualitative method of semi-structured interviews with a sample of 20 employees and managers from travel agencies in the Jordanian capital, Amman. The study results showed that the sample members knew the importance of e-tourism for travel agencies. The sample members also agreed that one of the most important obstacles to applying technology is the lack of knowledge of modern technological applications and the lack of funding to provide the appropriate infrastructure. On the other hand, the sample showed legal concerns that affect the adoption of current technological trends. However, some respondents argued that travel agencies could not cancel the traditional form of their work due to the societal culture that still tends to deal face-to-face with service providers. Based on the study findings, managerial implementations were suggested.
