SHEDET, an annual peer-reviewed journal published by Fayoum University's Faculty of Archaeology and covered by Scopus (2018 to present), is a scholarly print and open access online international journal that aims to publish peer-reviewed original research-oriented papers or reviews in Archaeology and related sciences. SHEDET encourages and facilitates the publication of original research contributions of significant value in all aspects of ancient Egyptian, Islamic, and Coptic archaeology, conservation, museology, and heritage (including language, literature, history, art, and related subjects prior to the modern period). Its mission is to publish research that contributes to the improvement of scholarly interpretation or the expansion of knowledge.

SHEDET is led by a distinguished Board of Archaeologists, Historians, Restorers, Researchers, Scientists, Engineers, and Academicians, and it is supported by an international advisory and review board panel comprised of prominent individuals from many well-known Universities, Colleges, and Corporate World. We publish high-quality research papers and reviews.

“Connecting Heritage Science to the Heritage of Science”

SHEDET Journal invites original research papers for a special issue on the theme "Connecting Heritage Science to the Heritage of Science," scheduled for publication in June 2025.

This special issue aims to present and discuss the knowledge and understanding of the history and heritage of science in Egyptian civilisations from prehistory to modern times, primarily based on archaeological and historical evidence. It also aims to highlight the role of heritage science research infrastructure and local, regional, and international cooperation in interpreting this heritage.

We welcome submissions that explore topics such as, but not limited to:

• The development of scientific thought and practices in ancient Egyptian, Greco-Roman, Coptic, and Islamic civilisations
• The evolution of scientific instrumentation, tools, and techniques used in Egyptian civilisations
• The contributions of Egyptian and Arab scholars, inventors, and scientists to the global heritage of science
• The integration of heritage science methods (e.g., archaeometry, conservation science) in the study of scientific heritage
• The role of interdisciplinary collaboration and international partnerships in preserving and interpreting the scientific heritage of Egypt
• The challenges and opportunities in making the heritage of science accessible to the public

The deadline for submission of the final paper is 1st March 2025. The editorial board supports outstanding researchers and high-quality research work and will waive publication and/or proofreading fees.
